Parents Celebrate Healthy Baby Smiles®

African American father, mother, and baby on the beach

By some accounts, July is considered Parents Month and nothing pleases moms and dads more than celebrating the healthy smiles of their baby. This happiness pleases Highchair Dental Care Studios too and we want to keep those smile celebrations coming. This is why the profession of dental medicine continues to encourage parents to introduce oral care even before the first tooth appears in the mouth. Teeth or no teeth, caregivers should gently wipe out the baby’s mouth after every feeding with a clean, finger cloth or ultra-fine finger brush that is exclusively designed for infant oral health care. Even after providing a bottle filled with milk or formula, and after breast feeding too, it is very important to cleanse the mouth. This routine removes excess milk that might otherwise remain stuck on the lips, tongue, gums and cheeks.

This also begins preparing the infants for the introduction of toothbrushing. This gentle oral care provided by parents and caregivers is an important step to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease in infants and toddlers. When babies smile we all smile!
